John R. Kistler, 91, of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at his home.

John was born on October 21, 1925, in East Stroudsburg, the son of the late Thomas L. Kistler and Helen Randel Kistler. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Norma Jane, and an older brother, Thomas, Jr.

He graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1943, and then served his country as a World War II Navy Signalman in the Pacific.

John founded the Kistler Printing Company in 1946,...

John was born on October 21, 1925, in East Stroudsburg, the son of the late Thomas L. Kistler and Helen Randel Kistler. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Norma Jane, and an older brother, Thomas, Jr.

He graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1943, and then served his country as a World War II Navy Signalman in the Pacific.

John founded the Kistler Printing Company in 1946, which he operated until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Pocohontas Fishing Club, American Legion Post 0346, and a Life Member of VFW Post 15040.

John enjoyed the sea, ships, boating, swimming, hiking, riding Harley-Davidsons, classical music, pocket billiards, dogs and printing.

He is survived by a cousin, Scott Koniecko, of New York City.

Friends are welcome to offer condolences from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg PA 18301, with services to follow, officiated by the Rev. James Todd, of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.

After cremation, his remains will be privately interred at the Kistler family plot, in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
